HOME ~ WELCOME
Our Grandchildren’s Climate is an organisation of Seniors (not only grandparents) who are working to bring about change and to ensure that the world where future generations grow up will be safe, healthy and just. For more information go to Our Mission.
Our Executive Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month. We warmly welcome suggestions and comments from a wider public: info@ourgrandchildrensclimate.org
Did you miss our Open Meeting on 6th May? Liz Pendleton, Co-founder of Media Revolution appalled and inspired us with her account of how the world’s media system (social media, corporate media, and state media, has been hijacked by a handful of powerful interests – billionaire-owners, political operators and advertisers). Have a look at this petition about introducing a Media Sovereignty Act and sign it. Also, read about "How to survive the information crisis".

Taking inspiration from Michael Mosley's
"Just one Thing"
DO JUST ONE THING IN JUNE
This month we want draw attention to our group 'Don't Forget the Grandchildren'. Social media and its use and abuse is very much in the headlines at the moment. For June we want to bring your attention to games and resources that you can introduce to your grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and young friends. Under the climate information tab above is 'Children's Resources' which not includes an extensive book list but also has a list of youtube and itnernet resources including fun games to play. Why not have a look with a young relation of yours and see if something grabs their fancy.
We currently have our open meetings online on the first Wednesday of each month at 5pm - a Zoom link will be published here or can be accessed by contacting us at info@ourgrandchildrensclimate.org
We also have three working groups: a Don't-forget-the-grandchildren, an Actions Group, and a Pensions and Finance Group.
IMPORTANT: Our government will be voting on the 7th Carbon Budget on June 28th. Why should that matter to us?
From now on, emissions reductions will depend far more heavily on changes across the wider economy, including the everyday economic activity of all of us. Despite the current controversies (and misunderstandings and lies) around “Net Zero”, we must maintain coordinated action across infrastructure, markets and behaviour. This requires clear planning, sustained policies and transparency.
If the competing priorities of other Departments are yet again allowed to undermine confidence in delivering the new carbon budget, DESNZ (Dept of Energy Security and Net Zero) will not be able to provide strong leadership for collective responsibility. This needs to be explicitly backed by the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Please email your MP urging them to vote for this Budget. Feel free to use the above text. Please share any responses (including positive ones) with us at info@ourgrandchildrensclimate.org. For the full text of the report read here . The summary takes five minutes to read.
WERE YOU THERE? (above) Tens (hundreds?) of thousands went on the Together Alliance march on 28th March in London. At times it was a tight squeeze.
