Government public consultation on Rosebank closed 20th November. Worrying times, but some good news while we're waiting for the verdict: A record 8.4GW of offshore wind has just been secured in Europe’s biggest ever offshore wind auction.

The environmentalist and author, Jonathon Porritt, will be talking to us about his latest book Love Anger and Betrayal, which is an account of radical nonviolent direct action campaigns, and the stories of 26 young climate campaigners. This month's theme is the role of legal action as a means of bringing about change. On January 27th and 28th the Irish High Court were due to have heard (now postponed)he challenge to Ireland’s Climate Action Plan 2024 brought by a grandfather, a youth climate activist, and a child represented by their parent. The applicants are joined in this action by Community Law and Mediation. We'll report back on the outcome.

The Solicitors firm Leigh Day are also constantly active in challenging for human rights (including climate change). The Environmental Law charity Client Earth said "Our delegation is at COP30 - the first since the International Court of Justice confirmed governments and corporations must protect people and the planet from climate harm".
