07.05.25 (see picture above) A group of us joined other protestors outside Barclays Bank AGM in London, and one of our members (who held a couple of shares - out of 14 billion ordinary shares!) asked a question of the Board relating to their policy of providing banking services for and investing in fossil-fuel companies. In their reply they referred to "thinking continuously", "taking seriously" and "reflecting" on the issues that we raised. Barclays have a long way to go.
30.01.25. We joined hundreds of others outside the Appeal Court in London to campaign for the release of the imprisoned climate activists. Of the sixteen, just three had their sentences reduced by a small amount.
We are still waiting for a response from the General Medical Council about their suspension of some doctors who had been convicted as a result of climate protests.
In response to our letter to the Government about our concerns about the development of the Rosebank oil field, the Environment Minister replied that no NEW licences were to be given unless a full assessment of SCOPE 3 emissions were first carried out (Scope 3 refers to emissions from the use of fossil fuels from SUBSEQUENT use of these fuels). We remain concerned that the publication of such an assessment by no means guarantees that such developments may not still go ahead.
